Annual Events

At Toddle-Tots we like to arrange some extra special “Fun” events for the children to enjoy throughout the year. 2007 has been the first year we have tried some of them out and they have proved to be a great hit!

Before we choose any venue to hold these events I will always visit beforehand to do a full risk assessment to ensure the venue is suitable, so therefore everyone is safe.

Many of the events are weather permitting, but if the weather is poor we will always arrange a different date. The majority of these events are held in the school holidays so that any older children can also participate. I always take a camera!

Teddy Bears Picnic

We hold our “Teddy Bears Picnic” June/July time to coincide with our teddy bear theme and topic. We have our picnic at Ashton Court Estate. Prior to the date set children will be given an invitation plus a special sticky name tag to attach to their teddy so that everyone will know who our “special guests” are”!

Children will also be given a “Teddy Bear” themed activity pack which may include teddy pictures to colour, quizzes etc. After we have all eaten, and the teddies have enjoyed their marmalade sandwiches we like to go for a short wonder in the woods where prior to this I will have hidden some small polythene wrapped teddies about for the children to find. All children have a new teddy bear friend to take home!

Sports Day

We hold our “Sports Day”, July/August time. We choose a nice bright day but not too warm. This year we held it at Keynsham Park. Everyone can participate from crawlers to athletes!

We include all the old favourites including the egg and spoon/beanbag race. The children normally offer a few new race suggestions! This is a non competitive event. Everyone gets cheered and clapped. All children get presented with a certificate and a medal.

Halloween Party

We hold our Halloween party at the end of October. Children receive an invite with details and are asked to attend in “Spooky” fancy dress if they wish! This year we hired the local farm hall. We organised several Halloween themed craft tables, spooky cake making, doughnut dunking and find the spiders in the jelly! Children also told spooky jokes, hit the spider piñata, stuck the warty nose on the witch, played spooky musical statues and showed us some of their spooky dance moves! Our Halloween themed picnic went down a treat. The children had a fantastic time, everyone came away happy and exhausted, including me!

Christmas Party

2007 will be our first “Christmas” party. We have hired a hall at the local farm for the day. We will be arranging Christmas themed arts and craft tables. There will be lots of singing and dancing, games and party food. Pin the nose on Rudolph, Find the fairies and pass the parcel. Children will receive an invite with details and are asked to attend in fancy dress if they wish! If the children have been really good this year there may be a surprise visitor. Now I wonder who that may be………..?

Easter Fun Day

We will be holding our first Easter Fun Day in 2008. Again we hope to hire the farm hall. We will have Easter themed arts and craft tables, biscuit decorating, egg hunt, pin the basket on the bunny, and an Easter Bonnet parade where everyone will receive a prize. We hope to have lots of singing and dancing. We will finish our day with a walk around the farm to see if there are any new spring additions!
